This position is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Essential Functions

This position operates primarily in a professional office environment. It routinely involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, and filing systems. Occasional business travel may be required.

This position is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports and statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures.
Essential Functions
- Compile and analyze financial information to assist in preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly and annual calculations and account reconciliations
- Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met
- Prepare financial management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Collect and analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems
- Verify support schedules to general ledger control accounts. Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review sales, cost of goods sold, and expense accounts for accuracy and make corrections as needed
- Compile and post monthly journal entries
- Assist outside insurance, government & accounting auditors
- Substantiate financial transactions and reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information and supporting documents
- Answer accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations
- Assist in ad hoc analysis
- Oversee customer collections by tracking overdue accounts, issuing statements, and following up with customers on outstanding balances.
- Work on special projects as needed
- B.S. Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years overall experience preferred
- 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience preferred, including a basic understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable and inventory journal entries and operations
- CPA strongly preferred
- Experience in balance sheet account reconciliations required
- Experience with journal entries and month-end close required
- Experience working with intercompany transactions preferred
- Experience assisting with annual external audit preferred
- Experience working in a corporate accounting environment preferred
- Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems, preferably in a manufacturing/distribution environment
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; ability to handle collections with professionalism and tact
- Knowledge and experience in accounting and financial disciplines
- Advanced level MS Excel user
- Overall proficiency in MS office
- Ability to work in multiple ERP systems
- Well organized with strong analytical and reasoning abilities
- Attention to detail required, must be a self-starter and have the ability to multi-task
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
