The purpose of this position is to "seek to bring forth and establish the cause of Zion.” The Master Painter is an expert in the field and acts as a lead in necessary situations. This role protects, decorates and finishes structural surfaces for Headquarters Facilities by applying oil base and water base paints, varnish, lacquer and stains to interior and exterior surfaces, trimmings, fixtures of buildings, furniture and other structures. Master painters specialize in two more advanced skills such as wood graining, marbleizing, and specialized wall coverings.
Pay rate for this position will be: $30.00 - $34.00/hr depending on experience

Responsibilities
- Performs specialized work at a master painter level such as:
- Wood graining: Demonstrated skill in wood graining surfaces and matching colors of a variety of wood finishes including walnut, maple, oak, mahogany, etc.
- Marbleizing: Demonstrated skill in marbleizing a variety of surface types and matching colors and patterns.
- Specialized Wall Coverings/Gold Leafing: Demonstrated skill in applying gold leaf and specialized wall covering materials including silk, decorative paper, and specialty vinyl in a variety of situations.
- Applies a variety of paints and coatings using various applications including but not limited to rolling, brushing, or spraying and various hand applications.
- Uses work order tracking software and time entry/personal development software in conjunction with daily work.
- Strips old finishes in preparation for re-coating. Methods include chemical strippers, sand blasting, burning, scraping, and sanding.
- Hangs a variety of wall coverings to protect surrounding areas.
- Prepares ceiling and wall surfaces for finish coating of wall covering or paint by performing such tasks as patching, taping, mudding, plastering, and sanding using sanders, wire brushes, wire wheels, grinding wheels and sanding discs.
- Produces vinyl and engraved signs.
- Matches and mixes paint and coatings to match existing colors.
- Performs minor repairs on all paint related tools.
- Finished wood and furniture repair.
- Performs other tasks as assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Requires seven years’ practical experience and a strong background in all phases of the painting trade.
- Must have demonstrated and proven master painter level abilities in two or more advanced skills such as woodgraining, marbleizing, and specialized wall coverings.
- Able to work in a professional manner with others as well as alone without constant supervision.
- Maintains a positive attitude with the ability to work as a team.
- Able to understand English for general communication, video training, building security, and safety.
- Capable of understanding instructions both verbally and in writing and able to listen and ask clarifying questions as needed.
- Able to maintain stable and controlled hand movement and good eye-hand coordination to perform detail work.
- Can work from ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical lifts for extended periods of time.
- Able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, push, pull and work overhead for extended periods of time.
- Capable of climbing a ladder while carrying working materials.
- Can match and distinguish colors.
- Valid driver's license.
- Pass all required safety and equipment certifications and training.
- Requires at least 20/40 vision with or without corrective lenses and not less than 120 degrees combined horizontal peripheral vision.
- Basic computer skills.
