Our client is a well-established General Contractor / Construction Management firm based in the Massachusetts area, with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality construction projects across a diverse portfolio. Their work includes multi-family wood-frame, healthcare, commercial, and other complex builds, giving their team strong project variety and long-term stability. They are seeking an experienced Superintendent to take ownership of field operations, lead project teams on site, and help drive projects safely, efficiently, and successfully through completion.
This is a key field leadership role responsible for overseeing day-to-day site activity, maintaining schedule, enforcing safety standards, coordinating subcontractors, and ensuring the overall quality of the work. The right person will know how to run a job the right way, communicate effectively with both field and office teams, and keep projects moving while maintaining a strong presence on site.
Who we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a lead Construction Superintendent on ground-up and/or renovation projects.
- Strong background in multi-family wood-frame, healthcare, and/or commercial construction.
- Solid understanding of construction sequencing, site logistics, safety regulations, and quality control.
- Ability to lead subcontractors and field teams while maintaining accountability and momentum on site.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with Project Managers, owners, inspectors, and subcontractors.
- Commitment to delivering projects safely, on time, and to a high standard of workmanship.
What you’ll do:
- Lead all day-to-day field operations from mobilization through project completion.
- Manage subcontractors, site logistics, scheduling coordination, and overall jobsite performance.
- Maintain a strong jobsite presence and ensure work is being performed according to plans, schedule, and quality expectations.
- Coordinate closely with the Project Management team to keep the project aligned from both a field and administrative standpoint.
- Proactively identify issues in the field and work collaboratively to keep the project moving forward.
Leadership:
- Set the tone on site through strong leadership, communication, and accountability.
- Build productive working relationships with subcontractors, field staff, ownership teams, and internal personnel.
- Mentor assistant superintendents, field staff, and trade partners where needed to help maintain strong jobsite performance.
- Foster a team-oriented environment built around execution, professionalism, and problem-solving.
Scheduling:
- Drive the project schedule in the field and ensure subcontractors are performing in accordance with milestone dates.
- Coordinate short-term planning efforts and maintain an active three-week look-ahead.
- Work closely with the Project Manager to identify schedule risks, sequencing conflicts, and recovery plans as needed.
- Keep site activities moving efficiently while adjusting for project demands and field conditions.
Quality Management:
- Monitor all work in place to ensure it aligns with contract documents, drawings, and quality expectations.
- Establish clear quality expectations with subcontractors and hold teams accountable for execution.
- Identify deficient work early and ensure corrections are made promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-run jobsite that reflects strong overall project control.
Safety:
- Enforce all site safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA standards and project-specific safety requirements.
- Conduct and support subcontractor safety coordination and pre-construction planning.
- Monitor the site regularly for unsafe conditions and take immediate action when needed.
- Reinforce a culture where safety is taken seriously by every trade and every individual on site.
