Summary
The Ash Group is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for our client (a high-tech aerospace and defense contractor delivering complex technology solutions for national security and space exploration). This is an Onsite 6-month contract role based in Plano, TX, offering a pay rate of $72.00 per hour. As part of the Aircraft Design Program, you will be instrumental in developing next-generation aviation systems, structures, and mission payloads for the UJTS program.
Role Details
- Compensation: $72.00 per hour.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the design, development, and testing of complex aerodynamic components and aircraft structures from concept through certification.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across aerodynamics, propulsion, and avionics to ensure seamless system integration and production readiness.
- Perform detailed analysis and design of new products and processes throughout the entire product lifecycle, including advanced mission payloads.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to ensure high-precision manufacturing and assembly of aircraft components.
- Support engineering simulations, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Thermal Analysis, to validate structural integrity and performance.
- Oversee material and hardware selection, ensuring compliance with rigorous aerospace industry standards and production processes.
What We’re Looking For
- Extensive Experience: 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, specifically within the Aerospace and Defense industry.
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and industry-standard mechanical design principles.
- Precision Engineering: Advanced understanding of applying and interpreting GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
- Design Innovation: Practical knowledge of Parametric Design and Model-Based Definition (MBD) for complex structural systems.
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
