Are you outgoing with a friendly personality and like to connect and build relationships within our community? The Arc of Spokane is seeking an Inclusive Community Program Specialist who will support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities connect with groups, clubs and volunteer opportunities within their community. The ICP specialist position will have the opportunity to network with local Not for Profit businesses for volunteer opportunities and local groups and clubs in developing relationships with community to support our individuals in finding opportunities to belong.

Inclusive Community Programs Specialist Job Duties

  • Assist participants in identifying activities and events of interest. Engage with both individual members and groups of members in pursuing such interests.
  • Plan and implement extended learning projects on a variety of topics to enhance the development and personal growth of the participants.
  • Assist participants in identifying activities and events of interest. Engage with both individual members and groups of members in pursuing such interests.
  • Consistently model appropriate, respectful, and positive behavior towards members, clients and colleagues always.
  • Assist clients in building relationships and developing opportunities.
  • Encourage and facilitate participant participation.
  • Actively work with participants to promote social development and social inclusion.
  • Research, through discovery within our community, opportunities for new events, activities and opportunities for the ICP programs.
  • Demonstrate cooperation, flexibility, and a willingness to help during peak work periods, weekend and evenings to meet client needs and contractual obligations. Complete all daily case notes, plans and reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a community integration program or related activity, preferably implementing curriculum, programs, and/or activities for people with disabilities.
  • Preferably two years of experience successfully supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Recreational/community activity planning experience.
  • Relationship building/ life skills training, volunteer management experience.
  • Utilize effective organizing and time management skills.
  • An interest in and/or experience driving a large vehicle.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • High-school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to successfully pass required background checks
  • Maintain personal transportation available for work-related use and valid WA driver's license with proof of insurance and DMV driving record. Essential function to provide transportation to and from community activities, Volunteer opportunities, and group/club participation to assist clients with integrating into their community and may drive agency owned vehicles for program business.

Position is open until it is filled.

  • Compensation:** $19.00 per hour, Non-exempt, Full-time 40 hours per week Monday-Friday, flexible hours dependent on client needs. Occasional weekends and evenings. Medical, Dental, Life Insurance, 14 Paid Holidays, Vacation, Sick, Personal Leave.
  • All pay is based on longevity at The Arc of Spokane; thus, ***the starting pay for this position is $19.00 per hour.***
