Senior Accountant

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

A real estate development company is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our South Florida team. This position will report directly to the Controller and work closely with accounting and operations staff across multiple locations.

About the Role

The Senior Accountant is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, preparing journal entries and reconciliations, analyzing financial results, and assisting with budgets and forecasts.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare and review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company policies.
• Review profit and loss statements for proper classification and reconcile sub-ledger activity to the general ledger.
• Perform detailed financial statement analysis to ensure accuracy and identify variances or trends.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Support the preparation of monthly operating reports, budgets, and forecasts.
• Assist with the development and implementation of accounting procedures and process improvements.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for audits and tax filings.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
• Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned by management.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting (required).
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate or related industries.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems (we currently use SAGE).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
