Industrial Automation & Air Operations Engineering Supervisor

(1st-Level Supervisor - 555 SWES / MXDPB)

Lead the elite engineering team powering the digital backbone of military industrial complexes and tactical air operations. As a 1st-level supervisor within the 555th Software Engineering Squadron (555 SWES/MXDPB), you will guide and mentor highly skilled technical professionals delivering advanced automation, robotics, and flight operations software solutions.

- Direct Industrial & Flight Impact: Direct the software and systems engineering that automates high-tech military depots and optimizes critical aerospace operations.

- Empower & Mentor Elite Talent: Take the helm of a dedicated engineering section, actively guiding their technical growth, career progression, and professional success.

- High-Visibility Tech Portfolio: Oversee a diverse and expanding portfolio of cutting-edge industrial automation, smart-factory technologies, and operational air systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Frontline Engineering Leadership: Exercise 1st-level supervisory and position management authority, planning daily work assignments and fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.

- Industrial Automation Oversight: Direct the design, development, integration, and sustainment of advanced software solutions for automated industrial systems and robotics.

- Air Operations System Support: Supervise engineering activities supporting a wide assortment of tactical air operations systems, ensuring maximum mission readiness.

- Technical Advisory & Guidance: Serve as the continuous technical and operational advisor to squadron and group leadership on resource allocation and process optimization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- U.S. Citizenship

- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft

- Employee must be able to obtain and maintain an appropriate security clearance.

- Subject to recall during non-duty hours, weekends, and holidays to complete proposals and/or resolve software problems

- Designated as a Acquisition Position and is covered by the Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP)

- Required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty if needed

- Drug testing designated position

Recruitment Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

1. Professional knowledge of electronics engineering and/or computer science concepts, theories, principles, and practices and working knowledge of other disciplines, such as aerospace, industrial, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering; of a broad range of engineering standards, precedents, methods, and techniques to ensure work in compliance with regulations and standards; and the applicability of such knowledge to the full range of duties concerned with design, production, and maintenance of Operational Flight Programs, Automated Test Systems, Test Program Set Software, and other systems used to support the warfighter and weapons systems program offices.

2. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.

3. Knowledge of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures.

4. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization.

5. Knowledge of budgeting, procurement, standard configuration and finding regulations, practices and processes related to system acquisition and sustainment management functions.
