Position Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct clinical care within the Sobering & Deflection Center, supporting individuals experiencing acute intoxication, substance-related impairment, or behavioral health crises.
Working under the supervision of the Medical Director, the LPN performs medical screenings, clinical observation, CLIA-waived testing, and administration of approved comfort medications to help ensure participant safety, stabilization, and compassionate care delivery.
This role plays a vital part in diverting individuals from emergency departments and the criminal justice system through trauma-informed, person-centered care aligned with Oregon Health Authority Sobering & Deflection Center standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct medical screenings and clinical observations
- Administer approved comfort medications
- Perform CLIA-waived testing within organizational guidelines
- Support individuals experiencing substance use or behavioral health crises
- Deliver trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe stabilization and continuity of care
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Qualifications
Required
- Current, unrestricted Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of Oregon
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Eligibility to perform CLIA-waived testing under organizational CLIA certificate
- Valid identification
Preferred Experience
- Sobering or detoxification centers
- Emergency or urgent care settings
- Behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment
- Community health or correctional healthcare environments
