HEAVY LINE MECHANICFull-Time Position | Independent Automotive Repair Shop & Dealership
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Line Mechanic to join our automotive repair shop team. We are a family-owned independent used-car dealership with an attached repair facility servicing cars and light-duty trucks. We are looking for a dependable, skilled technician who takes pride in quality workmanship and getting the job done right.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose and repair major mechanical problems on cars and light-duty trucks
- Perform engine replacements, engine repairs, and related component repairs
- Perform transmission and drivetrain repairs and replacements
- Diagnose and repair cooling, fuel, ignition, and emissions systems
- Perform major suspension and steering repairs
- Diagnose and repair electrical and starting/charging systems
- Perform brake system repairs and replacements
- Conduct accurate vehicle inspections and identify needed repairs
- Use diagnostic equipment and scan tools to properly diagnose problems
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards
- Document repairs and parts used accurately
- Work independently while communicating effectively with the service team
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow proper safety procedures and manufacturer repair guidelines
- Assist with other shop duties as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as an automotive technician/mechanic required
- Strong experience with heavy line or major mechanical repairs
- Ability to accurately diagnose mechanical and electrical problems
- Experience working on cars and light-duty trucks
- Must have your own basic hand tools
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic
- Valid driver's license and dependable transportation
- ASE certifications are a plus but not required
