Overview

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Property Accountant to join our team in South Austin. This role will manage a healthcare and commercial office portfolio and offers significant responsibility and exposure—functioning similarly to a Junior Controller within the organization.

This is an onsite role supporting both owned and third-party managed properties, with direct involvement in full-cycle accounting, reporting, and financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounting for a healthcare office portfolio of four properties located in Austin greater area
• Support multiple reporting cycles:
  • Hospital reporting at the beginning of the month
  • Medical/commercial portfolio reporting around the 15th of each month
• Work extensively with triple-net (NNN) leases across medical office and commercial properties
• Maintain and manage rent rolls using Yardi and MRI
• Read, interpret, and apply lease terms accurately within accounting systems
• Prepare and support monthly financial reporting and financial analysis using Yardi (owned portfolio) and MRI (hospital properties)
• Prepare reporting packages for both internal stakeholders and external third-party owners
• Review bank reconciliations prepared by others and research discrepancies as needed
• Serve as 2nd or 3rd approver in the AP approval workflow
• Perform CAM reconciliations (with potential transition to property management or outsourcing in the future)
• Ensure accurate invoice coding within Yardi and MRI
• Support all aspects of commercial property accounting functions related to the assigned portfolio

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• 3–5 years of full-cycle commercial property accounting experience
• Experience with commercial real estate accounting (medical office strongly preferred)
• Exposure to real estate development in addition to property or portfolio management
• Experience working with both internal and external portfolio management
• Hands-on experience with Yardi or MRI (experience with both is strongly preferred)
