Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Cardiac Stepdown Unit. This leader will oversee daily operations, provide 24/7 accountability, and ensure safe, high-quality, patient-centered care. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, experienced in cardiac or critical care settings, and skilled in staff development and performance improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure evidence-based, goal-directed nursing care is delivered consistently.
Manage and mentor unit staff with a focus on professional development.
Monitor compliance with infection prevention and patient safety initiatives.
Oversee unit budgets and maintain expenses within target levels.
Support patient, physician, and employee satisfaction programs.
Promote strong interdisciplinary teamwork for optimal patient outcomes.
Lead quality and process improvement initiatives; ensure regulatory compliance.
Maintain a culture of safety through education, coaching, and performance evaluations.
Qualifications
2 years of recent acute care leadership experience in cardiac stepdown or critical care required.
Experience in Magnet or Pathways facilities highly preferred.
BSN required; MSN or related master's preferred.
Texas RN license (or Compact RN license).
National specialty certification (or willingness to obtain within 1 year).
BLS and ACLS required.
Additional Details
Unit Size: 37 beds, with leadership over 60 FTEs.
Reports to: Director of PCU.
Hiring Process: WebEx interview followed by an onsite meeting with leadership.
