Job Description
The Combative Sports Assistant Program Manager is selected by and responsible to the Director of Field Inspections and the Combative Sports Program Manager and reports to the Combative Sports Program Manager. The Combative Sports Assistant Program Manager performs advanced consultative services and technical assistance work. Work involves planning, developing, and implementing Combative Sports Program guidelines, procedures, and rules and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program and Department staff, the regulated community, governmental agencies and the general public. Duties also include development and implementation of training courses; assisting with oversight of webpage and social media content; oversight and monitoring of officials evaluations; monitoring of contract inspector performance, payments and requirements; and assisting with the oversight and coordination of activities and events to ensure compliance with the Texas Combative Sports Act. Provides assistance and oversight of, and training on, staff member administrative duties. This position requires 50% travel, which involves combative sports event oversight and evaluations. The Combative Sports Assistant Program Manager works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties
Assists in the management and oversight of a variety of technical, training, research, planning, policy, program assessment, and administrative activities for the Combative Sports program, including the day-to-day operations to ensure that the program meets Department goals and objectives.
Develops and implements and/or oversees the development and implementation of training for the Combative Sports programs.
Assists with oversight of webpage and social media content.
Provides oversight, ensures completion of and monitors the evaluation of officials; monitors contract inspector performance, payments and requirements; and recommends appropriate changes.
Oversees studies and analyses of Combative Sports Program operations and problems and the preparation of reports of findings and recommendations.
Works with the Program Manager in the oversight of coordination of marketing of the Program to the regulated community and general public to encourage interest and secure ongoing support.
Consults with the Program Manager and assists in overseeing staff providing consultative services and technical assistance in the planning, implementation and monitoring of Program services.
Consults with the Program Manager, staff, regulated community, ring officials, related agencies and Department staff to resolve problems, identify training needs and discuss program effectiveness
Coordinates and/or conducts surveys, inspections, or reviews to determine compliance with licensing requirements, laws, rules, policies, procedures, and enforcement issues/actions.
Analyzes law, rules, and legislation to develop recommendations for policy and/or programmatic issues relating to the implementation, improvement, and/or expansion or reduction in program funding.
Collects, organizes, analyzes, and prepares material in response to requests for program information.
Determines Program statistics and trends and resolves operational problems; and develops and implements effective techniques for program evaluations.
Maintains contacts with counterparts in other states, the federal government, other agencies, local governments, and industry groups to develop and recommend solutions to common problems in related areas, and actively participates in solving problems common to Combative Sports issues.
