Manager, Quality / Technical
Location: Hartsville, South Carolina
Primary Responsibilities:
π Lead and manage a site Quality organization that includes both Quality Assurance and Metallurgical teams.
π§ Oversee the Quality Assurance processes, including the Quality Management System (QMS), Designated Supplier Quality Representatives (DSQR), and implementing the Operating System (COS).
βοΈ Ensure compliance with industry and customer standards, including Nadcap (HT, MTL, UT), AS9100, AS9120, ISO 17025, ASTM, European Directives, and other business-specific requirements.
π€ Interact with customers, suppliers, and third-party auditors for quality system audits or product-related issues.
π Develop and implement systems, metrics, and processes to detect and solve quality issues, standardizing processes and preventing recurrence.
π οΈ Promote and implement process management, including risk assessment, mitigation, measurement of Critical Process Variables (CPV), development of control plans, process validation, and the use of statistical methods.
π° Manage both fixed and variable cost budgets, aligning with corporate objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
π Proactively gain and apply the necessary knowledge of the QMS and operating model to support business operations.
π₯ Coach, counsel, and communicate performance expectations to team members, ensuring clear communication of customer and industry quality requirements across the organization.
π― Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications:
π Four-year college degree required, preferably in Materials, Engineering, Quality Sciences, or related fields.
π§ 7 years of experience in Quality Management Systems.
π Knowledge of industry manufacturing processes and products.
π Familiarity with inspection methods and continuous improvement principles.
π‘ Expertise in root cause problem-solving methodologies.
π Ability to develop departmental plans and manage resources to meet business and operational priorities.
π¨βπ« Strong leadership and coaching skills with the ability to evaluate performance objectively.
β³ Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and make effective decisions.
π± Ability to mentor staff and provide opportunities for growth within or across departments.
πͺ Expertise in managing, directing, and strengthening the effectiveness of a Quality group.
π£οΈ Ability to interact with customers, suppliers, and auditors regarding quality systems and product-related matters.
π Drive quality improvements through structured continuous improvement processes.
π¬ Effective communication skills to raise awareness of customer and industry quality requirements within the organization.
