Position Overview:
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Controller with oversight of day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, and compliance initiatives. This position requires a strong technical accounting background, hands-on experience with financial close processes, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, highly organized, and comfortable partnering cross-functionally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Assist in managing the full-cycle accounting process, including general ledger activity, reconciliations, and financial close
- Oversee and help execute internal control processes, including compliance-related initiatives and documentation
- Participate in payroll review processes to ensure accuracy and adherence to internal procedures
- Prepare and maintain detailed supporting schedules, workpapers, and financial analyses
- Assist with coordination of external audits, including communication with auditors and preparation of required documentation
- Contribute to tax-related reporting and compliance requirements in partnership with external advisors
- Analyze financial results and prepare reports for leadership, identifying trends and variances
- Support preparation of reports for regulatory, tax, and other external requirements
- Collaborate with internal departments to improve processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and maintain strong financial controls
- Take on additional projects and responsibilities as needed to support the accounting team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2–3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Experience working in a multi-entity or mid-to-large company environment preferred
- Proficiency with ERP systems and accounting software (experience with large-scale systems is a plus)
- Advanced Excel skills, including financial modeling and data analysis
- Strong analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Effective communication skills and ability to partner with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with audit processes, internal controls, and compliance requirements
