Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Paralegal Manager to lead and oversee a team of paralegals while supporting multiple litigation practice areas. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience, extensive civil litigation knowledge, and the ability to manage team performance, staffing, training, and workflow. This role combines management responsibilities with hands-on paralegal support to ensure high-quality legal services and efficient team operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operations, productivity, and performance of the paralegal team.
- Recruit, onboard, train, mentor, and develop new paralegals.
- Monitor workloads, staffing assignments, and resource allocation across multiple practice areas.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and annual performance reviews.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for paralegal questions, concerns, and support.
- Collaborate with leadership to identify staffing needs, training opportunities, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Monitor productivity and ensure assignments are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Assist with drafting pleadings, discovery responses, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Anticipate attorney needs and provide proactive litigation support.
- Serve as the escalation point for urgent requests during and outside normal business hours.
- Maintain annual billable hour requirements.
- Foster a collaborative, professional, and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of management or supervisory experience (law firm experience preferred).
- Multi-state civil litigation experience required.
- Experience training and mentoring legal professionals preferred.
- Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
- Experience meeting billable hour requirements.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, discretion, and accountability.
Education
- ABA Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience required.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
