ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support the commissioning phase of a large‑scale LNG storage facility project currently under construction in Virginia. This is a long‑term, onsite role supporting late‑stage construction, pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and transition to operations.
The Commissioning Manager will work closely with an established, hands‑on commissioning lead and broader project teams to plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and safety systems. Candidates with strong LNG backgrounds are highly preferred, as this role will rely on LNG commissioning best practices, systems knowledge, and field execution experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and support commissioning planning and execution for an LNG storage facility
- Coordinate commissioning activities across process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and control systems
- Develop and manage commissioning procedures, schedules, and system turnover plans
- Interface closely with construction, engineering, operations, and HSE teams
- Support system completion, pre‑commissioning checks, and dynamic commissioning activities
- Oversee functional testing, performance testing, and readiness for operations
- Ensure commissioning activities comply with project standards, safety requirements, and regulatory expectations
- Support training, documentation handover, and transition to operations
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor to commissioning team members
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Process, Chemical, Mechanical, or related discipline)
- Proven LNG commissioning experience, ideally on large‑scale LNG or LNG storage projects
- Experience commissioning systems such as:
- LNG storage tanks
- Liquefaction and vaporization systems
- LNG pumps and compressors
- Gas detection, fire protection, and safety systems
- Utilities, pretreatment, and supporting infrastructure
- Strong field presence and ability to work onsite full‑time
- Experience supporting or working alongside hands‑on commissioning leadership
- Excellent coordination and communication skills across multi‑discipline teams
PREFERRED BACKGROUND
Candidates with commissioning experience from major LNG developments are especially encouraged, including (but not limited to):
- Large LNG export terminals
- LNG storage or peak‑shaving facilities
- Major EPC‑led LNG projects
Experience from projects associated with large U.S. LNG developers, EPC contractors, or operators is highly relevant.
WORK CONDITIONS
- Full‑time onsite role in Brunswick County, Virginia
- Long‑term assignment through 2028
- Overtime expected during peak commissioning periods
- Per diem / travel support to be discussed as applicable
