We have a great opportunity with one of our Houston based clients! Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to add to their team. The right candidate will be responsible for accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting, supporting core accounting and manufacturing accounting activities. The role contributes to income statement and balance sheet reporting, variance analysis, budgeting, and monthly close processes, requiring strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to perform effectively in a structured, deadline‑driven environment.
Job Duties
- Support accurate financial reporting and monthly close, preparing journal entries and key financial statements
- Analyze balance sheet and income statement activity, explain variances, and deliver insights to management
- Perform manufacturing and cost accounting activities in the ERP system, including cost, variance, and fixed asset reporting
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and CAPEX planning, supporting business investment decisions
- Assist with tax compliance, audits, and internal controls, partnering with internal and external stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and reporting efficiency
- Uphold high standards of integrity, confidentiality, safety, and professional excellence
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred; advanced degree a plus)
- 4 - 8 years of accounting experience across financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, tax, or audit
- Experience in energy, petrochemical, chemical, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP and related accounting standards; audit exposure a plus
- Hands‑on experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and solve problems
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Experience with budgeting, ROI, cost accounting, profitability, and KPIs
- Advanced Excel skills and overall Microsoft Office proficiency
- Clear, professional communication skills and ability to work across all levels of an organization
