Position: Lead Electrical Engineer – Engines
Location: Houston, Texas (Hybrid)
Summary:
The Lead Electrical Engineer will provide technical leadership and hands-on engineering support for power systems supporting mission-critical facilities, including data centers. This role requires deep expertise in electrical power systems, controls, and automation, with a strong ability to interpret single line diagrams and lead complex electrical design and execution efforts. The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, is highly skilled in PLCs, HMIs, and IoT technologies, and is motivated by working on engines that power modern data center infrastructure.
Job Duties:
Electrical Engineering & Power Systems
- Lead electrical engineering activities for engine, generator, and/or turbine-based power systems supporting data center applications
- Interpret, develop, and review single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical layouts
- Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
- Support integration of electrical systems with mechanical and control systems
Controls, Automation & Digital Systems
- Serve as a technical expert in PLC programming, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Design, review, and support HMI architectures and user interfaces
- Integrate IIoT solutions for monitoring, diagnostics, data collection, and performance optimization
- Support factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), commissioning, and startup activities
Technical Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and project team members
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, controls, project management, and field services
- Support customer interactions by providing technical expertise and resolving complex electrical issues
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives
Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- Minimum of 7 years of electrical engineering experience with engines, generators, turbines, or similar power generation equipment
- Proven experience supporting power systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or industrial applications preferred
Technical Knowledge & Skills
- Expert ability to read and interpret single line diagrams and electrical schematics
- Strong hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems
- Working knowledge of IIoT platforms, data acquisition, and remote monitoring technologies
- Solid understanding of power distribution, protection, grounding, and controls for rotating equipment
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, IEC)
Additional Requirements
- Willingness to work in a hybrid environment based in Houston, Texas
- Ability to travel occasionally to manufacturing facilities or project sites as required
