- Lead commissioning efforts for large and technically complex building systems, including HVAC, electrical distribution, and integrated systems.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary commissioning teams comprised of engineers, contractors, controls specialists, and facility stakeholders.
- Develop and manage commissioning plans, schedules, and pre-functional and functional tests to ensure timely completion of commissioning activities aligned with project milestones.
- Plan, organize, and oversee functional performance testing (FPT) for mechanical, electrical, and integrated building systems.
- Apply technical expertise in HVAC systems, electrical distribution, and building automation systems (BAS/DDC) to conduct commissioning verification.
- Review design documents, control sequences, and specifications to confirm commissioning requirements are clearly defined and consistent with project intent.
- Lead design-phase commissioning activities, including basis of design reviews, constructability feedback, and commissioning specification development.
- Oversee field commissioning activities such as installation verification, startup oversight, and performance validation of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Manage commissioning issue logs and deficiency tracking, working collaboratively with project teams to resolve issues efficiently.
- Facilitate commissioning meetings and coordination sessions with project teams, owners, and contractors.
- Develop and execute commissioning test procedures, analyze test results, and document system performance.
- Handle building automation systems, control integration, trend data review and processing, and sequence verification as part of commissioning activities.
- Train facility operations staff and prepare commissioning documentation, including final commissioning reports and systems manuals.
- Mentor junior engineers and commissioning staff, providing guidance on commissioning processes, system troubleshooting, and technical best practices.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary design and construction teams to ensure successful project delivery and operational performance.
- 7 years of progressive experience in engineering and building systems commissioning for complex MEP projects.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering required from ABET accredited program.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
- Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA) certification required.
- Construction experience preferred.
- Mission-critical facility commissioning experience (data centers, healthcare, or similar high-reliability facilities) preferred.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills, including preparation of commissioning reports, test documentation, and client deliverables.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experienced with at least one commissioning software and document management package.
