Job Summary
The Controller is responsible for leading core accounting operations while remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day financial activities. This role oversees multiple accounting functions and supports geographically dispersed teams, including both onsite and remote staff. The ideal candidate is a hands‑on finance leader who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, maintains strong operational control, and helps drive consistency and accountability across a multi‑location organization.
This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting leadership with timely reporting, and strengthening processes as accounting functions continue to evolve and become more centralized.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct oversight and operational support for general ledger, accounts payable, and payroll activities
- Actively participate in and guide the monthly close process to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Review balance sheet activity and supporting detail; ensure accounts are properly reconciled and documented
- Prepare and distribute internal financial reports and analyses for management review
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external audits, responding to inquiries and documentation requests
- Review and approve disbursements, including check signing and payment authorization as required
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting efforts in partnership with leadership
- Lead, coach, and support accounting personnel across multiple locations, including remote teams
- Encourage consistent processes and communication between onsite and remote staff
- Assist with ongoing improvements, standardization, and consolidation of accounting functions
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support the finance department and organization’s objectives
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience leading accounting operations with a strong emphasis on hands‑on involvement
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and hold accountable teams spread across multiple locations
- Solid understanding of GAAP and full‑cycle accounting, including general ledger, payroll, and payables
- Track record of driving disciplined month‑end close and producing reliable financial information
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Effective communicator with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and locations
- Proficiency with standard financial and Microsoft‑based systems, including Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field preferred
- Approximately 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
- Comfortable working independently while also functioning as a collaborative team leader
- Detail‑oriented with the ability to interpret policies, procedures, and financial documentation
Salary : $120,000 - $135,000
