Position Summary
The Senior Fixed Asset Accountant is responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s fixed asset accounting processes across multiple facilities. This role oversees capital expenditure tracking, asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, inventory controls, and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle accounting for fixed assets, including asset setup, capitalization, transfers, disposals, and depreciation
- Maintain accurate fixed asset subledger and ensure reconciliation to the general ledger on a monthly basis
- Review capital expenditure requests and monitor CIP (Construction in Progress) projects through completion and capitalization
- Partner with plant operations and engineering teams to track manufacturing equipment purchases, installations, and retirements
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fixed asset roll forwards and supporting schedules
- Analyze depreciation expense trends and support budgeting and forecasting processes
- Coordinate and support physical fixed asset inventories across manufacturing locations
- Ensure compliance with company capitalization policies and U.S. GAAP requirements
- Assist with lease accounting and asset impairment analyses as needed
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare audit schedules and support internal and external audit requests related to fixed assets and capital expenditures
- Identify opportunities to improve fixed asset processes, reporting, and internal controls
- Assist with ERP system enhancements, fixed asset module implementations, and process automation initiatives
- Mentor junior accounting staff and provide guidance on fixed asset accounting procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- 5 years of accounting experience with significant exposure to fixed assets and capital accounting
- Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of GAAP related to fixed assets, depreciation, and capitalization
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner cross-functionally across operations and finance teams
Salary : $95,000 - $115,000
