The position starts as a contract role working approximately 37.5 hours per week, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent, salaried position. You will work closely with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and Facilities teams in a collaborative setting focused on growth and continuous improvement. The office environment is structured and business-focused, with standard office technology and systems used to manage fixed asset and general ledger activities.

Responsibilities
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including recording asset additions, retirements, transfers, and depreciation.
- Record and review capital expenditures to ensure proper capitalization, accurate classification, and compliance with company policy and GAAP.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation and amortization entries in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reconcile the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger on a monthly basis and resolve any discrepancies.
- Review and process asset retirements, impairments, and disposals in accordance with accounting standards and internal policies.
- Support construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting, including tracking project costs and capitalizing completed projects.
- Assist with physical asset inventories, asset tagging, and ongoing asset tracking to maintain accurate records.
- Prepare fixed asset schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and, where applicable, SOX requirements related to fixed asset accounting.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and other stakeholders on asset-related activities and projects.
- Collaborate with Facilities and Construction teams on capital projects and asset management, as applicable.
- Assist with process improvements and system enhancements related to fixed asset accounting to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support month-end close activities related to fixed assets and capital projects.
- Proven experience with fixed asset accounting and managing capital assets.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and its application to fixed asset and capital project accounting.
- Hands-on experience working with a general ledger and supporting month-end close activities.
- Ability to reconcile subledgers to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
- Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for reviewing capital expenditures and asset transactions.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Procurement, and other departments.
- Motivation and desire for professional growth within the accounting function.
- Experience working with Facilities and Construction teams on capital projects (preferred).
- Familiarity with construction-in-progress (CIP) accounting and capitalization of completed projects.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits, including preparation of fixed asset schedules.
- Knowledge of internal controls and, where applicable, SOX requirements related to fixed assets.
- Interest in contributing to process improvements and system enhancements in the fixed asset area.
