Occupational Therapist (OT) – Inpatient Rehab (IP Rehab)

Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist evaluates and treats patients of all ages. Serves as a role model in the delivery of professional services and as a clinical resource for staff and students.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our inpatient rehabilitation team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive therapy services to patients recovering from acute illnesses, injuries, or surgeries, supporting their journey toward functional independence. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, medical documentation, and evidence-based practice, with experience working in inpatient settings. Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical, cognitive, and sensory abilities to develop individualized treatment plans.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
• Implement evidence-based therapeutic interventions aimed at improving strength, coordination, and functional independence.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including speech therapists, physiotherapists, nurses, and physicians—to coordinate comprehensive care.
• Develop and update care plans that align with patient goals and discharge requirements.
• Support discharge planning by preparing patients for transition to home or other care settings through education and skill training.
• Document patient progress accurately within electronic health records (EHR) systems while ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards.
• Participate in case management activities to optimize patient outcomes and resource utilization.
• Provide support for patients with neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum disorders, or disabilities requiring specialized interventions.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in inpatient occupational therapy.

Experience

• Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist in inpatient rehabilitation or acute care settings.
• Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs and implement discharge planning strategies effectively.
• Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, or disabilities.
• Familiarity with medical documentation standards and electronic health records management.
• Knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to rehabilitation practices.
• Background working across various environments such as skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, home health, or school settings is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology related to inpatient care and post-acute rehabilitation.
• Prior experience supporting patients in early intervention programs or pediatric settings is preferred.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care.

Education

• Required Education: Bachelor's in Occupational Therapy.
• Required Certifications & Licensure: IL OT License, BLS,AHA.
