Job Summary
The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute. The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study. The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Rad Tech II – HVI Proc IR (Interventional Radiology) to join our dynamic imaging team. This role involves performing advanced interventional radiology procedures utilizing fluoroscopy, X-ray, and other medical imaging modalities to assist in diagnosis and treatment. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology, along with proficiency in operating complex imaging equipment such as PET scans, CT, mammography, DEXA scans, and nuclear medicine devices. This position plays a vital role in delivering precise diagnostic evaluations within a fast-paced, high-acuity environment, including Level I and Level II trauma centers and emergency rooms.
Responsibilities
- Perform interventional radiology procedures including vascular access, biopsies, drainages, and embolizations with precision and adherence to safety protocols.
- Operate advanced imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy units, CT scanners, PET scanners, mammography systems, DEXA scanners, and nuclear medicine devices to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Apply aseptic techniques during invasive procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety.
- Implement radiation safety protocols diligently to minimize exposure for patients and staff while maintaining optimal image quality.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations by interpreting imaging results in collaboration with radiologists and physicians.
- Maintain thorough documentation of procedures performed, ensuring accuracy in medical records.
- Provide exceptional patient care by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring comfort throughout imaging processes.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including emergency medicine personnel, trauma teams, and other healthcare providers.
- Stay current with technological advancements in medical imaging and interventional radiology practices to enhance service quality.
Experience
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist with specialized training in interventional radiology procedures.
- Prior experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in sonography, nuclear medicine (including PET scans), CT imaging, mammography, DEXA scans, and fluoroscopy.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic radiology principles.
- Proven ability to operate diverse medical imaging equipment safely and effectively.
- Experience implementing radiation safety protocols in high-volume clinical settings.
- Background working within emergency room environments or urgent care settings is advantageous.
- Knowledge of aseptic techniques essential for invasive procedures to prevent infections.
Required Education:
Associates Degree in Related Field OR Certificate of completion for Radiology Program
Required Certifications & Licensure:
-IEMA (Illinois state) License in Rad Technology, BLS (American Heart Assoc.), ACLS (American Heart Assoc.), ARRT Registration in Radiology
