Randstad Finance & Accounting (Tatum) is partnering with a client in Norcross that provides superior commercial electrical construction and renovation services. This company that is enriched with history is looking to add a Controller/Head of Accounting to help run the technical side of the accounting work while leading the Accounting team.
This position will be onsite (5 days). The company provides strong company benefits, family company culture, and work life balance.
The Senior Accounting leader will possess a strong full-cycle, GAAP accounting background with 8-10 years of experience. Candidate must be self-motivated with experience in Construction accounting, able to perform daily/weekly and monthly tasks including, but not limited to overseeing Job Schedules, preparing for month end closing documents, making sure all AP, AR are input by the team daily and monthly, and taking the lead in preparing for yearly audits. Candidate must be detail oriented, organized, able to delegate tasks and ensure all deadlines are met on time. Sage 300 and TimberScan (a feature of Sage 300) is the preferred accounting software and should be highly considered as a requirement for each candidate.
Description
- Oversee the accounting team that is currently in place.
- Accounts Receivable – including preparing the contractor pay applications, entering them into Timberline, manage cash receipts
- Monthly Bank Statements
- Monthly Journal Entries
- Monthly Job Cost Status Report (WIP Schedule)
- Work with the President to ensure all monthly documents are accurate and ready to close by the 20th of the following month.
- Prepare Quarterly Financial documents to present to the board of directors.
- Oversee AP to make sure everything is being entered timely and coded to the jobs correctly.
Required skills/experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (CPA preferred)
- 8-10 years' progressive, full-cycle, GAAP Accounting
- 3 to 5 years of recent Construction industry experience, including WIP, job schedules, construction accounting processes, month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, financial statement preparation and presentation to Board.
- Experience leading an Accounting team
- MS Office including Advanced Excel is required; Sage 300 (and TimberScan, a feature of Sage 300) is highly preferred.
