Summary
Control all movement into, within and from the secure facility by monitoring and operating the security control console. Maintain facility security by means of electronically controlled doors, radio communications and audio/video surveillance equipment. Monitor facility plant safety through the fire alarm control panel, weather radio and incoming telephone communications. Serve as the central point of intra-facility radio communications. Prepare and organize required paperwork for facility administrator and supervisors at the beginning of each shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains facility security by the proficient operation of the electronic door locks, intercoms, audio/visual equipment and emergency systems
- Monitors and operates all security doors assigned to the control console
- Notifies supervisor of admissions and releases, maintaining a current population count at all times
- Coordinates visitations with supervisor
- Monitors and properly responds to all emergencies detected by audio/visual means such as 1) two-way radio transmissions, 2) telephone communications, 3) duress alarms, 4) video monitors, 5) Life safety systems, and 5) door security alarms
- Maintains control of emergency situations by the proper use of manually controlled "overrides" of all automated systems
- Monitors fire alarms and reports problems to supervisor
- Answers/routes all incoming telephone calls
- Monitors retained children pending detention or release
- Records point-of-service meal counts for meals served to retained youth
- Maintains key control through beginning and ending shift inventories
- Maintains a variety of logs documenting distribution of keys, radios, location of detained youth outside of detention and visitors
- Receives and stores residents' safe property
- Assists supervisors with beginning and ending shift safe audits
- Maintains and distributes hand held radios
- Accesses various electronic records, e-mail and payroll
- Identifies, admits, logs, and provides ID badges for vendors
- Logs times of escort requests and arrivals
- Provides required shift paperwork
- Performs all other related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or GED two (2) full-time years' related work experience.- Ability to be certified in First Aid, CPR and Nonviolent restraint
- Must have basic computer skills
- Must have a valid Texas Driver License and automobile liability insurance.
Note: Applicants who graduate from a foreign school must present written documentation that validates their education as meeting the standards of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) from a Texas Juvenile Probation Commission approved service.
Physical Demands and Work Environment & Other Requirements
While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to walk, stand, reach and sit. Must be able to accurately manage multiple tasks.
Salary : $20 - $22
