Position Summary: The Director of Marketing is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy, development, and execution of the company’s marketing efforts. This position manages all areas of marketing for the organization, including branding, advertising, website management, digital marketing, social media, graphic design, videography, content creation, public relations, community engagement, trade shows, and promotional activities.

The Director of Marketing develops and implements marketing strategies that support the company’s sales, business development, recruiting, and growth objectives. This role works closely with leadership, sales, operations, human resources, and other departments to strengthen the company’s brand, increase visibility, generate leads, and promote the organization within the community and marketplace.

Director of Marketing Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company’s overall marketing strategy in alignment with business goals and growth objectives.

  • Lead all marketing initiatives to increase brand awareness, support sales efforts, strengthen customer relationships, and promote the company’s products and services.
  • Serve as the senior leader for all marketing, branding, communications, and promotional activities.
  • Develop annual marketing plans, budgets, goals, and performance metrics.
  • Evaluate market trends, competitive activity, customer needs, and emerging marketing opportunities.
  • Identify new methods and channels to improve the company’s market presence and community visibility.

Brand Management and Corporate Communications

  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen the company’s brand identity, messaging, and visual standards.

  • Ensure consistent branding across all company materials, locations, digital platforms, and communications.
  • Oversee development of brochures, presentations, advertisements, signage, promotional materials, and sales support materials.
  • Manage all internal and external communications, including company announcements, newsletters, press releases, and public relations efforts.
  • Coordinate messaging and communications during significant company events, announcements, or crises.

Website and Digital Marketing

  • Direct the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the company website.

  • Ensure the company website accurately represents the organization, products, services, culture, and employment opportunities.
  • Oversee website content, search engine optimization (SEO), online advertising, and digital campaigns.
  • Monitor website traffic, analytics, user engagement, and lead generation performance.
  • Manage email marketing campaigns, online content strategies, and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all digital marketing efforts align with branding and company objectives.

Social Media and Online Presence

  • Lead all company social media efforts across platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other relevant channels.

  • Develop and manage content calendars, social media campaigns, and online engagement strategies.
  • Create and oversee content that promotes products, company culture, employee achievements, recruiting efforts, community involvement, and company events.
  • Monitor and respond to social media activity and online reviews as appropriate.
  • Track social media performance, audience growth, and engagement metrics.
  • Ensure the company maintains a positive, professional, and active online presence.

Graphic Design, Photography, and Videography

  • Direct all creative and visual marketing efforts, including graphic design, photography, and videography.

  • Oversee the creation of digital and print marketing materials, product photography, promotional videos, recruiting videos, and social media content.
  • Manage design standards and ensure consistency in visual branding.
  • Coordinate photo and video coverage of company events, products, manufacturing processes, employee activities, and community involvement.
  • Develop marketing content that effectively communicates the company’s capabilities, culture, and value proposition.

Community Relations and Promotional Activities

  • Manage the company’s community involvement, sponsorships, charitable activities, and local partnerships.

  • Coordinate community events, public appearances, educational partnerships, plant tours, and company-sponsored activities.
  • Represent the company in community organizations, trade associations, chambers of commerce, and industry groups.
  • Develop strategies to strengthen the company’s reputation and visibility within the local community and industry.
  • Oversee company participation in recruiting events, career fairs, school partnerships, and workforce development activities.

Trade Shows and Events

  • Plan and manage the company’s participation in trade shows, conferences, customer events, and industry meetings.

  • Coordinate booth design, promotional materials, event logistics, presentations, and follow-up activities.
  • Ensure company events and trade show participation support sales and marketing objectives.
  • Organize internal events, employee appreciation activities, grand openings, and special company events as needed.

Sales and Recruiting Support

  • Partner with the sales team to create marketing materials, presentations, proposals, and campaigns that support business development efforts.

  • Develop content and campaigns that generate qualified leads and increase customer engagement.
  • Work with Human Resources to support recruiting, employee retention, and employer branding initiatives.
  • Create recruiting materials, videos, social media content, and community outreach efforts that promote the company as an employer of choice.

Budgeting and Vendor Management

  • Develop and manage the marketing department budget.

  • Oversee relationships with advertising agencies, web developers, designers, printers, photographers, videographers, media outlets, and other vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and ensure cost-effective use of marketing resources.
  • Monitor return on investment for marketing programs, campaigns, and promotional activities.

Department Leadership and Staff Development
  • Directly manage all marketing personnel, including employees responsible for digital marketing, social media, graphic design, videography, communications, and events.

  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate marketing team members.
  • Establish departmental priorities, performance expectations, and accountability.
  • Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises marketing staff, graphic designers, social media coordinators, web specialists, communications personnel, and outside marketing resources.

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, coaching, disciplining, and developing employees.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Director of Marketing Skills and Specifications:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and presentation abilities.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic marketing initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of branding, digital marketing, social media, SEO, and content management.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and measure marketing effectiveness.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees, customers, community leaders, vendors, and company leadership.
  • High level of professionalism, creativity, and attention to detail.

Director of Marketing Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, Public Relations, Graphic Design, or related field required.

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive marketing leadership experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience managing digital marketing, website administration, social media, branding, design, and community relations.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing strategy, content development, advertising, public relations, and promotional activities.
  • Experience with photography, videography, graphic design, and digital content creation preferred.
  • Experience with trade shows, community events, recruiting campaigns, and corporate communications.
  • Strong proficiency with website platforms, social media tools, design software, analytics tools, and marketing technologies.
  • Experience managing employees, outside vendors, and marketing budgets.

Director of Marketing Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of Director of Marketing, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Director of Marketing Work Environment:

  • Primarily works in an office environment with regular interaction throughout the manufacturing facility and community.

  • Frequent involvement in company events, photo and video sessions, trade shows, and community activities.
  • May require occasional travel for trade shows, conferences, customer visits, community events, and vendor meetings.
  • May be required to work evenings or weekends for events, social media coverage, trade shows, or company activities.
