JOB TITLE: Program Aide
DIVISION: Boys and Girls Club
DEPARTMENT: Boys and Girls Club
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
Salary: $24.84 per hour non-negotiable
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Boys & Girls Club CEO (“Supervisor”) this position will primarily serve as a youth development professional by planning, implementing, and supervising club members while evaluating activities and meeting priority outcomes in the areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Including but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities.
- Provide technical information on a regular basis to the supervisor
- Communicate and maintain close and daily contact with Club staff (other staff and volunteers), Club members and to receive/provide information and discuss issues
- Explain and instruct guidelines, including registering new members, serve as a role model and mentor by providing advice and counsel as needed
- Prepare Youth for Success by creating an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development outcomes
- Program/Development, Implement, and Evaluation of programs, services, and activities for drop-in members and visitors
- Monitor to ensure Club and child safety, quality programs, and clean appearance of branch
- Maintain working internal and external relationships with various groups of people, outside organizations i.e. schools, community groups, members’ parents and others as needed
- Direct the preparation of a variety of narrative and statistical reports
- Ensure that all Boys & Girls Club staff adhere to applicable Tribal, Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, standards, and policies
- May be required to attend special programs and/or events
- May be required to drive Club van and transport minors
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Non-supervisory
OTHER DUTIES:
- Attend meetings
- Attend mandatory training
- Travel as required to perform duties
- Perform related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Program planning and implementing practices
- Federal, State, and local laws and regulations applicable to the Boys and Girls Club
- Youth development and working with children
- Branch objectives specifically program priorities
ABILITY TO:
- Apply cultural sensitivity to cultural relevant programming, primarily Native American
- Supervise and manage children and youth behavior
- Motivate, mentor, and coach youth
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with the staff, community groups, and other related agencies
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Operate standard office and classroom equipment including a computer and assigned software
- Observe and follow health and safety regulations
- Maintain files or reports as needed
- Work with minimal supervision on assigned duties
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate GED/HiSet
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS: To perform and to continue to be qualified for this position, the requirements listed below must be met at a time of hire or may be obtained within a specific amount of time depending on the position requirements. Costs for required certifications, licenses, and registration are to be covered by employee, unless offered by the Tribe.
- Must maintain prior to hiring and throughout employment a valid California Class C driver’s license and insurability under the Tribe’s vehicle insurance policy
- Requires defensive driving training every two (2) years
- Requires driver to be at least 21 years of age to transport minors
- This position has duties and responsibilities that require regular contact with or control over Indian children and is therefore subject to the background investigative process to comply with P.L. 101-630
- Prior to hiring and annually will be subject to the background investigative process as per the Boys and Girls Club requirements
- Requires throughout employment to maintain a Mandated Reporting Certificate of Training
- Maintain throughout employment a Valid Food Handler’s Card issued by an authorized agency
- Requires throughout employment to maintain a CPR/AED/First Aid Card or Certification
