What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fixed Income Derivatives Lawyer position at Tandym?
A recognized financial services firm in New York City is looking to add a new Fixed Income Derivatives Lawyer on a contract basis.
***This is a Hybrid opportunity requiring the qualified professional to work onsite at least 3 days a week.***
Responsibilities:
- Transaction support, including but not limited to synthetic risk transfers, total return swaps, options, LIBOR, risk participation agreements, deal contingent hedging, repurchase agreements, cross border licensing
- Advise on derivatives regulatory matters, including analysis, implementation, and advocacy concerning swap dealer regulations
- Review, draft, and negotiate non-standard confirmations and ISDA Master Agreements and Credit Support documents
- Advise on new products
- Support SMFG netting program, including reviewing industry and bespoke netting opinions and issuing netting enforceability analysis
- Support general corporate legal work and special projects within the Legal Department as needed
Qualifications:
- 7 years of experience at a law firm and/or Financial Institution covering Fixed Income
- Juris Doctorate
- Membership in good standing with relevant bar
- Hands-on experience advising on OTC derivatives (interest rate swaps, FX swaps/spots, cross currency swaps, repos, securities lending, etc.)
- Knowledge of relevant documentation (e.g. 1992 and 2002 ISDA Master Agreement, 2021 ISDA Rates Definitions, 998 FX Definitions
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating non-standard confirmations and ISDA Master Agreements and Credit Support documents
- Excellent communication skills,
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with multiple priorities, often under pressure
Desired Skills:
- Experience with CFTC, and SEC regulations
- Familiarity with non-US regulations in EMEA and APAC
