This remote opportunity offers the flexibility to travel and co-locate with project teams, making a significant impact on the safe execution of complex construction projects while supporting and mentoring on-site safety representatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and manage site-specific safety programs, including LOTO, Confined Spaces, and Fall Protection.
- Oversee daily activities of Project Safety Representatives; provide guidance, training, and support.
- Attend safety pre-planning meetings with project management and subcontractors for high-risk activities.
- Ensure safety orientations and specialty training sessions are conducted according to project requirements.
- Educate employees on company safety policies, incident prevention, and behavioral best practices.
- Conduct regular jobsite safety surveys and inspections of machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, and near-misses; facilitate incident review meetings.
- Prepare and maintain detailed reports on inspections and incidents using designated software platforms.
- Create and deliver toolbox talks, monthly safety reports, and safety bulletins based on observed trends.
- Participate in OSHA Consultations, General Contractor safety meetings, and liaise with internal safety program teams.
- Assist with updating site-specific safety manuals, coordinating with trade partners and contractors.
Must-Have Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; active BCSP certification (CHST or CSP) required.
- Five (5) years of construction safety experience, with strong understanding of OSHA standards and NFPA 70.
- Proven ability to train, influence, and motivate safety teams and field employees.
- Skilled in managing daily activities for teams of up to 8 direct reports.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for diverse audience engagement.
- Demonstrated independent judgment and decision-making in job site safety management.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Safety experience in the electrical construction industry.
- Ability to address large groups and effectively lead as a team spokesperson.
- Experience managing conflict and building strong professional relationships.
- Comfortable with field conditions, emergency situations, and adapting to challenging environments.
- Strong customer orientation and alignment with client safety cultures.
- Self-motivated, positive attitude, and ability to promote safety culture at all levels.
