What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Data Engineer position at Talently?
We’re working with a fast-growing, data-driven SaaS company that’s building a large-scale platform used by enterprise organizations to make smarter, more strategic decisions across complex datasets.
They’re investing heavily in their data infrastructure and are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to help scale and modernize their platform. This is a high-impact, hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in shaping data architecture, improving reliability, and driving technical direction across the data team.
This is a full time, permanent remote role.
Responsibilities:
- Design and build scalable, reliable data pipelines and infrastructure across a modern cloud-based stack
- Help define and execute the long-term data architecture and platform strategy
- Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and DevOps to support data-driven decision making
- Own and improve data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and overall data quality
- Mentor other engineers and help elevate code quality and engineering best practices
- Evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies to improve performance and scalability
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and support strong development workflows
- Ensure data governance, monitoring, and reliability standards are in place
Must-Have Skills:
- 7 years of experience in data engineering, including experience owning production data systems
- Strong experience working with Snowflake in a scalable, production environment
- Experience with data migrations or modernizing legacy data systems is a big plus
- Deep expertise in Python and SQL
- Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow and/or transformation frameworks like dbt or SQL Mesh
- Strong understanding of modern data architecture, data modeling, and warehousing principles
- Experience working in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience with CI/CD, version control, and collaborative development workflows
- Ability to take ambiguous requirements and turn them into scalable technical solutions
- Prior experience mentoring or leading other engineers is a plus
