Salary: $60,000-$85,000

As a Cost Accountant, you will play a key role in inventory accounting, manufacturing variance analysis, financial reporting, and process improvement. This on-site opportunity in Springfield, Missouri, offers the chance to partner closely with finance, operations, engineering, and business leadership while contributing to critical business decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead daily cost accounting activities, including inventory and work-in-process valuations, manufacturing variance analysis, sales update reviews, and intercompany order management.
• Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly entries related to profit recognition, net realizable value, construction-in-process, intercompany eliminations, warranty reserves, and inventory reserves.
• Monitor and reconcile inventory balances through book-to-physical analysis, cycle count coordination, and adjustment processing.
• Analyze manufacturing, labor, overhead, material, absorption, scrap, rework, and production efficiency trends to identify cost drivers and improvement opportunities.
• Prepare journal entries and perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations for cost accounting and inventory accounts.
• Support labor and burden rate updates, LIFO inventory calculations, reserve analysis, and the month-end close schedule.
• Lead cost accounting deliverables during quarterly and year-end audits and respond to analytical inquiries from external auditors.
• Partner with operations and finance teams to improve procedures, strengthen internal controls, enhance reporting, and support profitability analysis.

Must-Have Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3 years of experience in cost accounting or finance.
• Advanced knowledge of cost accounting principles and US GAAP, particularly inventory valuation.
• Experience with inventory accounting, WIP, manufacturing variances, labor, overhead, material costs, and reconciliations.
• Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with SQL, Power BI, or other business intelligence and analytical reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet close deadlines, and communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work effectively with operations, engineering, finance, and executive leadership in an on-site manufacturing environment.
