Location: Cincinnati, OH (on-site, Monday through Friday, with flexibility on daily hours)

Salary: $105,000 - $180,000

Join a well-established construction organization delivering complex projects through disciplined project management, engineering coordination, and financial oversight. This Project Controller opportunity offers the chance to manage project accounting processes, strengthen financial controls, and provide critical insight into job profitability and performance. Based onsite in Cincinnati, Ohio, you will partner with project leaders and accounting teams to support accurate reporting and successful project delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Manage project accounting activities across construction projects, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
• Prepare and review work-in-progress schedules using percentage-of-completion accounting principles.
• Monitor project costs, commitments, billing, receivables, payables, and cash flow to identify risks and opportunities.
• Coordinate accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll allocations, and project-related reconciliations.
• Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
• Consolidate project financial results and deliver clear reporting to operational and executive leadership.
• Partner with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and accounting personnel to resolve financial issues.
• Support internal controls, audit requests, process improvements, and compliance with accounting policies.

Must-Have Skills:

• Strong experience in construction accounting, project accounting, or project controlling.
• Working knowledge of work-in-progress and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Proficiency with month-end close, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting.
• Experience managing or reviewing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job cost transactions.
• Ability to analyze project budgets, costs, forecasts, margins, and variances.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles and internal controls.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting or construction management systems.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience as a controller, assistant controller, or senior project accountant.
• Experience with construction ERP platforms such as Viewpoint, Sage, Procore, or CMiC.
• Knowledge of engineering, infrastructure, commercial, or industrial construction projects.
• Experience consolidating results across multiple projects or business units.
• Familiarity with audit preparation, financial forecasting, and process improvement initiatives.
