Job Title: Financial Controller

As Financial Controller, you’ll join a fast-paced environment where you will directly impact the continued success and scaling of the firm’s finance and accounting capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple legal entities.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and executive finance reports to ensure GAAP compliance.
- Manage accounting for a diversified real estate portfolio, including acquisition and development project accounting, dispositions, and joint ventures.
- Direct and develop a growing accounting team, establishing scalable processes and high-performance standards.
- Coordinate annual audits and maintain relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and lenders.
- Design and strengthen internal controls, ensuring compliance with lender, investor, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning, supporting acquisitions and capital markets activities.
Must-Have Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 6 years of progressive accounting experience, at least 3 in a leadership capacity.
- Strong real estate accounting background within a developer, owner/operator, REIT, or institutional investment firm.
- Expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and managing internal controls.
- Experience overseeing multi-entity, multi-property accounting structures and teams.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and hands-on use of ERP/accounting platforms.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA accreditation.
- Public accounting experience, particularly with real estate clients.
- Experience with platforms such as Yardi, MRI, NetSuite, or Sage Intacct.
- Background in institutional or private equity-backed real estate environments.
- Deep knowledge of development, partnership, and joint venture accounting.
- Proven ability to partner effectively with executives, lenders, and institutional investors.
