Job Title: Maintenance Lead
Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Shift timings: Night Shift - 6PM to 6:30AM - 2-2-3 schedule
Overview:
The Maintenance Lead serves as the technical leader for maintenance operations during their assigned shift. This role is responsible for overseeing plant equipment, leading maintenance technicians, and ensuring the reliability and efficiency of manufacturing systems. The position focuses on preventive and predictive maintenance, minimizing downtime, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced production environment.
Maintenance Leadership & Operations
- Lead and coordinate all maintenance activities during assigned shift
- Supervise and support maintenance technicians, delegating tasks as needed
- Perform hands-on maintenance including repair, installation, and troubleshooting of equipment
- Conduct shift handoffs, including plant walkthroughs to identify outstanding issues
- Execute and improve preventive maintenance (PM) programs
- Participate in predictive maintenance activities (vibration analysis, infrared scans, oil analysis)
- Identify and address equipment deficiencies to prevent unplanned downtime
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues
- Work with PLCs, ladder logic, schematics, and automation systems
- Support continuous improvement efforts for equipment reliability and performance
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Develop and support improvement initiatives across operations and maintenance
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reporting through CMMS systems
- Ensure adherence to safety standards and best practices
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions promptly
- Support compliance with applicable industry and operational standards
- Work closely with operations, engineering, and leadership teams
- Support planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance activities
- Assist with parts management and inventory recommendations
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical training, apprenticeship, or related background preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in maintenance within a manufacturing environment
- Experience using CMMS/work order systems preferred
- Multi-skilled in:
- Electrical systems and controls
- Mechanical systems
- Pneumatics and hydraulics
- Fabrication and machining
- Experience with:
- PLCs, VFDs, and automation systems
- Industrial equipment and plant utilities (compressed air, water systems, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret:
- Technical drawings and schematics
- Work orders and maintenance documentation
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and maintenance systems
- Manufacturing/industrial environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical tasks throughout shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- May require working at heights or in confined spaces
- Ability to operate tools, equipment, and industrial vehicles
- This position may require flexibility in scheduling, including overtime as needed
