Job Description:
The Maintenance Lead position requires demonstrated experience and skills in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems associated with plastics injection molding equipment, as well as general facility grounds and equipment. This role supports production operations while strictly adhering to all company safety procedures and policies.
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Lead provides technical leadership and assists with managing maintenance activities. This position is expected to support and guide the Maintenance department when requested by the Maintenance Manager or in their absence.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate advanced experience and skill in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, along with general facility and equipment maintenance.
- Maintain a working knowledge of machine shop tools and diagnostic equipment, including but not limited to drill presses, hose crimpers, volt meters, amp meters, thermocouple calibration units, micrometers, calipers, scales, and levels.
- Preferred experience working with plastics injection molding equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Troubleshoot equipment utilizing pneumatic systems, mechanical and hydraulic controls.
- Install wiring; make mechanical and electrical adjustments; and calibrate machinery and equipment.
- Remove, replace, and repair machinery and production equipment as needed.
- Retrieve work orders from the maintenance management system and complete them accurately and in a timely manner.
- Complete or assist with parts requisitions, ensuring correct part numbers and approved vendors are used.
- Ensure full compliance with all safety policies and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- Maintain responsibility for parts inventory, including organization, tracking, and availability.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) on equipment in accordance with published standards.
- Conduct basic PM inspections and ensure all required documentation and paperwork are completed properly.
- Ensure the supply chain understands and complies with food safety obligations as a partner in delivering safe products to the consuming public.
- Provide leadership and technical support to maintenance personnel as required.
Shift
- Day Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- This is an hourly position.
Educational and Other Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED certification. Minimum of three to five years' experience.
- Technical school training will be considered in lieu of years of experience.
- Prefer understanding in the injection molding process along with all its support equipment i.e., AEC’s, loaders, ohmmeters, chillers, conveyors, etc., and the use of tools and devises used to repair and maintain equipment and facilities.
- Experience in manufacturing in a fast-paced work environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Work Location: In person
Work Conditions: Requires flexibility for 8–12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends and mandatory overtime as needed.
- This position reports directly to the Maintenance Manager and leads maintenance mechanics and electrical technicians. Involves close collaboration with production machine operators, production supervisors, engineering teams, and warehouse personnel. The role requires proactive communication.
