Responsibilities
- Administer medications and perform treatments as ordered by the physician and within the scope of your license. This includes various forms of medication administration and treatments such as wound care, tracheostomy care, and catheter care.
- Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments.
- Ensure an adequate supply of medications and other necessary supplies are available.
- Communicate vital information regarding residents' medical, social, and functional needs.
- Participate in shift reports and communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to ensure comprehensive care.
- Complete initial nursing assessments for newly admitted residents.
- Assist in the development of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments, quarterly reviews, and care plans.
- Maintain clinical and administrative documentation regarding residents' diagnoses, treatments, and progress.
- Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) programs.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Understanding of gerontological and geriatric nursing theory and practice.
- Knowledge of the effects of the aging process and team nursing practices.
- Familiarity with pharmacology, medication practices, and relevant laws and regulations.
- Skills in observing and reporting resident behavior and progress.
- Ability to assist in developing and implementing patient care plans within a team nursing concept.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Comply with nursing regulations.
- Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies effectively.
- Evaluate and analyze health problems, make independent decisions, and follow up as needed.
