CT Technologist

Job Summary:

Operates computed tomography (CT) equipment to process cross-sectional images of a patient's body for diagnostic purposes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic CT examinations according to department policies and protocols.
• Screen, prepare, and position patients for CT procedures based on diagnoses and body part.
• Maintain knowledge of all CT equipment, including the laser camera.
• Evaluate CT studies for quality and completeness.
• Utilize advanced image manipulations such as 3D rendering, reformation, and reconstruction.
• Understand image display and filming options.
• Recognize and rectify CT imaging and filming problems.
• Send images to PACS system, evaluate exams for completeness, and verify exams in a timely manner.
• Develop a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities.
• Maintain accurate documentation on logbook worksheet and charging of examinations and all supplies.
• Administer contrast media as directed by a Radiologist.
• Ensure radiation safety for patients, staff, and family members of patients.
• Be responsive to patient physical and psychological needs.
• Keep patients informed and explain all procedures clearly and concisely to avoid unnecessary anxiety.
• Listen to and answer patient questions with patience and courtesy.
• Seek advice from appropriate resources when unsure of protocol or policy.
• Maintain a clean and appropriately supplied work area.
• Make independent judgments in planning the sequence of operations and making decisions in a complex technical field.
• Work directly with patients and/or customers.
• Interact with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
• Interact with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and staff.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• 0 to 6 months of related experience.
• Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
  
  

Required Education:

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  
  

Required Certification & Licensure:

• Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  
  

Shift:

Minimum 5 years CT experience, familiarity with relevant software and technology platforms required.
