Registered Nurse

Job Summary:

The role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies/procedures to monitor and evaluate patient functional status.

Job Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process in caring for assigned patients.
• Complete assessments and individualize plans of care within established unit/nursing guidelines.
• Provide nursing care with consideration for cultural and psychosocial factors and ages of individual patients.
• Organize, prioritize, and perform nursing skills appropriate for the patient population.
• Anticipate patient/unit needs.
• Demonstrate sound knowledge in bio-psychosocial areas.
• Delegate and communicate effectively and appropriately.
• Demonstrate professional judgment in response to changing patient/unit situations.
• Document steps of the nursing process/care on the appropriate record.
• Record data concisely, consistently, accurately, and legibly.
• Utilize correct medical terminology abbreviations.
• Address problems and progress toward outcomes according to unit/nursing policy.
• Facilitate patient teaching and discharge.
• Make timely, appropriate referrals.
• Utilize resources in planning and presenting patient education, considering patient age and cultural/psychosocial factors.
• Collaborate with other disciplines as appropriate.
• Support unit/hospital goals through PI and educational activities.
• Attend mandatory in-services and meet unit education standards.
• Accurately complete variance reports.
• Exercise independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
• Work directly with patients and/or customers.
• Collaborate with internal/external customers and other healthcare professionals and staff.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience:

• Zero (0) - six (6) months of related experience.
• Working knowledge of disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways.
• Effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner.
• Detail-oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
  
  

Required Education:

Completion of basic professional curriculum of a school of nursing as approved and verified by a state board of nursing and holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree therefrom.

Required Certification & Licensure:

Valid multi-state or State of Oklahoma Registered Nurse License.

Additional Requirements:

• BLS through AHA
• Epic Experience
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• NIHSS
