- Position: Rail Services Manager
About the Role
Join Amrize as a Rail Services Manager and oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective movement of cement by rail. You will manage contracts with railroads, oversee a fleet of approximately 3,800 rail cars, and ensure timely delivery of products while maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Negotiate inbound/outbound rail freight contracts.
- Assist in negotiating leases and agreements; manage rail car fleet, including maintenance.
- Manage performance of service providers to meet Amrize standards.
- Track and issue monthly key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with a team managing rail transportation and tactical planning.
- Ensure timely supply of rail cars and efficient utilization of the rail fleet; assist in strategic planning.
- Support rail transportation budgets, forecasts, and cost analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate commitment to health, safety, and environmental policies, promoting a culture of safety.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (3 years)
- Work Experience: 3-5 years in rail operations (preferred), logistics, or supply chain management
- Technical Skills: Basic computer knowledge (Excel, PowerPoint); SAP or other ERP systems a plus
- Strong analytical, financial, and business acumen
- Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and project management skills
- Able to interact effectively with all levels of the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Successful adherence to Amrize PPE and safety protocols, including respirator requirements (clean-shaven for proper fit test)
