About the Role
The Plant Manager is responsible for planning, directing, organizing, coordinating, and controlling limestone quarry mining operations, from drilling and blasting through processing, stockpiling, and shipment of products in compliance with IDOT specifications. The role ensures the safety and health of employees, environmental stewardship, and accurate reporting of production and inventory. The Plant Manager will coordinate with multiple departments including Safety & Health, Engineering, Environmental, Commercial Sales, Finance, HR, and local/state/federal agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety: Ensure employees, equipment, and processes meet or exceed MSHA and Amrize standards. Promote a culture of safety targeting zero incidents.
- Environmental Compliance: Maintain compliance with environmental regulations and implement best practices.
- Operations Management: Oversee extraction, processing, storage, and shipping of aggregates. Optimize plant activities, reduce costs, and maximize equipment uptime using Amrize maintenance programs.
- Inventory Management: Maintain adequate inventory levels through coordination with Territory Managers, Financial Controllers, and Quality Control.
- Performance Management: Track performance using KPIs, operational reports, and financial statements; develop action plans to drive continuous improvement.
- Quality: Ensure product quality meets customer specifications through effective extraction, processing, stockpiling, and reclamation practices.
- Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (5 years of relevant experience or 8–10 years of industry experience)
Field of Study Preferred:
- Mining, Engineering, or significant industry experience
Licenses Preferred:
- MSHA Supervisor’s Card
Additional Requirements:
- Commitment to safety and proper use of Amrize-approved PPE, including respirators (clean-shaven requirement where applicable)
