About the Role
Amrize is seeking a Building Services Technician to maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment across operational buildings at the Alpena Cement Plant. This role supports plant safety, efficiency, and facility standards by performing cleaning and sanitation tasks in non-administrative areas, including the quarry, raw grind, kiln, electrical building, powerhouse, yard, finish grind, and shipping areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine cleaning of plant facilities, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and pressure washing.
- Remove industrial dust, dirt, and debris from work surfaces, floors, and high-traffic areas.
- Empty and sanitize trash and recycling receptacles on a regular schedule.
- Clean restrooms and break areas located within operational buildings.
- Maintain safe and organized janitorial supply storage; notify supervisor when restocking is needed.
- Operate industrial cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers, vacuums, and pressure washers.
- Report maintenance needs, safety hazards, or equipment malfunctions.
- Follow all plant safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other facilities-related duties as assigned.
- Promote a culture of safety and adhere to all health, safety, and environmental policies.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Prior industrial or facilities cleaning experience preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting (up to 45 lbs).
- Work Environment: Industrial plant settings with dust, noise, and high temperatures; potential exposure to cement dust, lubricants, and grease.
- Other Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safe handling practices.
- Full-time availability; shift schedules may vary. Occasional overtime may be required.
- Adherence to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize-approved PPE, including respirators as required.
