We are seeking a skilled Fire Alarm Service Technician to join our growing service team. In this role, you will be responsible for the inspection, service, maintenance, and troubleshooting of commercial fire alarm and life safety systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical experience with fire alarm systems, low voltage wiring, and code-compliant system diagnostics and enjoys solving complex technical issues in the field.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring life safety system reliability, code compliance, and customer satisfaction across commercial, healthcare, education, and government facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to service calls, emergency repairs, and preventative maintenance for fire alarm systems
- Diagnose and troubleshoot fire alarm system faults including devices, control panels, and communication modules
- Perform system repairs, component replacement, and equipment upgrades to restore system functionality
- Conduct testing, inspection, and maintenance in accordance with NFPA codes and local fire regulations
- Program, configure, and troubleshoot fire alarm control panels and field devices
- Document all service work, system issues, and corrective actions through detailed service reports
- Communicate system status and recommendations to customers, inspectors, and internal teams
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, company procedures, and industry best practices
- Support system upgrades, retrofits, and minor installations when needed
- 2-5 years experience troubleshooting and repairing fire alarm systems (i.e. EST3, Notifier, Silent Knight, Fire Lite, etc)
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Valid California Driver License (or ability to obtain one) and proof of auto insurance.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Ability to Drive for 2 hours in a work shift/day, daily
- Ability to drive, walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily
- Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, under all temperature variations
- Ascend/Descend and work at heights above 6ft and extreme heights, occasionally
- Move/Transport items weighing 20 pounds, occasionally
- Position self to work in confined spaces, occasionally
- Pushing/Pulling using upper extremities, daily
- Stand or Sit for long periods (4 hours), daily
- Work environment may be construction sites, commercial buildings, high rise/mid-rise buildings, etc.
