Position Overview - Assistant Plant Engineer - Maintenance
The Maintenance Supervisor will play a key role in leading maintenance operations, ensuring optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and supporting production efficiency. This role combines hands-on technical work with leadership responsibilities, including coaching and developing maintenance staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair production equipment including packaging systems, conveyors, ovens, boilers, and refrigeration units
- Supervise and perform maintenance on hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and PLC-controlled systems
- Lead equipment setup and maintenance for machinery such as wrapping machines, gas-fired furnaces, fryers, mixers, batching systems, boilers, freezers, and conveyors
- Oversee and execute routine maintenance and equipment setup
- Manage and ensure completion of preventative maintenance (PM) programs
- Train and coach maintenance technicians on proper PM procedures and best practices
- Perform and oversee general facility maintenance
- Interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings to support repairs and installations
- Communicate equipment downtime and operational issues to plant leadership
- Lead troubleshooting efforts related to equipment failures, reliability, throughput, quality, and environmental performance
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing machinery in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in manufacturing
- Strong experience with PLC troubleshooting required
- Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, conveyors, refrigeration, boilers, and electronics
- Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance programs, planning, and scheduling preferred
- Union environment experience strongly preferred
Salary : $95,000 - $115,000
