POSITION SUMMARY : Under the direct supervision of a licensed practitioner, assists the health care provider in delivery of patient care in a clinic setting. Coordinates nursing care for patients according to established procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
-Records initial patient histories, collect assessment data, and prepares patients for scheduled procedures. Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel. Demonstrates sensitivity to patient’s comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their care. Assists physicians with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care, including phlebotomy and injections.
-Responsible for accuracy of information recorded in patient medical records. Maintains all required patient reports, records, and statistics.
-Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital/clinic standards. Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Responsible for maintaining a clean and tidy workspace free from clutter.
- Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur. Responsible for infection control procedures.
-Enhances professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required.
-Experience in a clinical practice setting preferred.
-RN, LPN, CNA, MA preferred.
-Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
-Excellent organization, communication and customer service skills required.
-Must be able to speak and write articulately and attention to detail is critical.
-Current BLS certification required.
-Must have or complete immunization training for the IRIS program.
