Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a background in plant operations, inventory accounting, and cost analysis. This role will partner closely with operations and finance leadership and play a key role in improving costing accuracy, reporting, and decision support. This is a highly visible position with strong exposure to leadership and the opportunity to make process improvements in a growing environment.
Responsibilities- Maintain and analyze standard costs, including updates, rollups, and cost structure changes
- Prepare and review inventory valuation, reserves, and reconciliation activities
- Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material, and overhead
- Support month-end close including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
- Partner with operations to understand production trends and cost drivers
- Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
- Track and analyze COGS, margin trends, and operational performance
- Help improve costing processes, controls, and reporting capabilities
- Support budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs
- Assist with audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5 years of accounting experience with exposure to manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory accounting principles
- Experience with standard costing and variance analysis preferred
- ERP system experience required (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills including data analysis and reporting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership

Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
