Senior Cost Accountant

Syntax Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a background in plant operations, inventory accounting, and cost analysis. This role will partner closely with operations and finance leadership and play a key role in improving costing accuracy, reporting, and decision support. This is a highly visible position with strong exposure to leadership and the opportunity to make process improvements in a growing environment.

• Maintain and analyze standard costs, including updates, rollups, and cost structure changes
• Prepare and review inventory valuation, reserves, and reconciliation activities
• Analyze manufacturing variances including labor, material, and overhead
• Support month-end close including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Partner with operations to understand production trends and cost drivers
• Assist with physical inventory counts and cycle count programs
• Track and analyze COGS, margin trends, and operational performance
• Help improve costing processes, controls, and reporting capabilities
• Support budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs
• Assist with audit requests related to inventory and cost accounting

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5 years of accounting experience with exposure to manufacturing environments
• Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory accounting principles
• Experience with standard costing and variance analysis preferred
• ERP system experience required (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
• Advanced Excel skills including data analysis and reporting
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership
