Syntax Talent Solutions is partnering with a growing real estate firm seeking a hands on Accountant to support a portfolio of properties, investor activity, and joint ventures.
This role will work closely with accounting, payroll, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, payroll expense recording, and overall portfolio performance.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day general ledger accounting activities supporting portfolio operations
- Prepare and maintain monthly account reconciliations, researching and resolving variances or unusual activity
- Review expenses and prepare/post journal entries as needed
- Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable oversight
- Support month-end close processes in accordance with established timelines
- Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain supporting documentation
- Compile monthly financial reporting packages for internal and external stakeholders
- Partner with accounting, operations, and external stakeholders to support the financial performance of a portfolio of communities, joint ventures, and investor entities
- Prepare weekly cash reports and record related banking activity (fees, NSF items, etc.)
- Assist with year-end audit support including PBC schedules, workpapers, and financial documentation
- Maintain monthly workpapers, analyze GL activity, and ensure accuracy of financial data
- Analyze financial results, identify trends, and provide recommendations to management
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities, including financial modeling and variance analysis
- Collaborate with operations teams to gather information and resolve accounting issues
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting requirements
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and special projects as needed
- Build strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1-3 years of accounting or finance experience required
- Property accounting, real estate, senior living, or public accounting experience preferred
- CPA or MBA preferred but not required
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and overall Microsoft Office proficiency
- Experience with ERP or general ledger systems required
- Yardi Voyager experience preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail with ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong teamwork and customer service mindset
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
