Position OverviewAs Assurance Manager, you will oversee complex assurance engagements, including audits, reviews, and agreed-upon procedures. You will manage engagements from planning through completion while ensuring compliance with professional standards, maintaining profitability, mentoring staff, and delivering exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities- Manage audits, reviews, and agreed-upon procedures from planning through completion.
- Apply GAAP, GAAS, and other reporting frameworks to assess risk, develop engagement strategies, and guide key decisions.
- Plan and manage engagement budgets, staffing, timelines, and scope to meet client and firm objectives.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop assurance staff through coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Review workpapers, financial statements, and audit documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Evaluate audit findings, identify control deficiencies, and prepare management and governance communications.
- Prepare proposals and fee estimates for new assurance engagements.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients and internal teams regarding engagement status, issues, and expectations.
- Build and strengthen client relationships while identifying opportunities to add value.
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while meeting deadlines, productivity goals, and quality standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and support special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5-10 years of assurance experience in public accounting or a similar professional services environment.
- Proven experience managing audits, reviews, and other assurance engagements from planning through reporting.
- Strong technical knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, and financial reporting frameworks, including GAAP and GAAS.
- Proficiency with audit software and related assurance tools.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff.
- Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple deadlines.
- Flexibility to work additional hours as needed during peak periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience serving clients across diverse industries, including privately held and middle-market organizations.
- Familiarity with IFRS or other specialized reporting frameworks.
- Experience developing audit methodologies, templates, or best practices.
- Involvement in business development, proposals, and client presentations.
- Experience delivering internal training or technical updates to assurance teams.
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field required.
- Active CPA license preferred; CPA-eligible candidates with a clear path to licensure will be considered.
- Advanced degree (MAcc, MBA, or similar) preferred but not required.
- Commitment to continuing professional education and maintaining technical expertise.
