Overview
A well-known Kansas City company seeking a highly skilled and experienced Controller to oversee financial operations for a hotel portfolio. This leadership role requires a strong background in accounting, financial management, and regulatory compliance specific to the hospitality industry. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and governmental accounting standards, ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective cash management. The Controller will play a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of financial data, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring adherence to all regulatory requirements.
Duties
- Lead the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports in accordance with GAAP and IFRS standards.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Conduct detailed balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements.
- Supervise payroll processing and ensure proper allocation of expenses across departments.
- Implement and maintain internal controls in accordance with SOX compliance to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic planning initiatives.
- Utilize M3 accounting software.
- Prepare comprehensive financial reports for executive leadership and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with governmental regulations related to non-profit or hospitality-specific accounting standards as applicable.
- Collaborate with auditors during audits and facilitate audit processes by providing necessary documentation.
- Develop policies for cash management, account reconciliation, and other financial procedures to optimize operational efficiency.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles within the hospitality industry or similar sectors such as non-profit or governmental accounting.
- M3 software experience is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
