What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead CNC Programmer position at Synectics Inc?
Responsibilities
You start your 1st-shift morning reviewing prints with GD&T callouts, mapping a setup plan for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical mills. You load tooling, prove out programs on Fanuc controls, and fine-tune G-code/M-code for optimal feeds and speeds. Between changeovers, you program and run positional indexers for multi-face machining, validate first-piece dimensions with precision gages, and collaborate with teammates to keep production flowing. You report directly to the Shop President, turning challenges into repeatable, high-precision processes.
What you'll take ownership of
End-to-end setup and operation of vertical CNC mills (3/4/5-axis)
Fanuc control optimization, including on-machine edits
Writing and editing basic CNC programs (G-code) and applying M-codes effectively
Programming and using positional indexers for accurate indexing
Translating blueprints and GD&T into reliable machining strategies
First-article and in-process verification using precision measuring instruments and gages
Partnering in a team-based environment to hit quality and schedule targets
What you bring
Minimum 5 years of CNC milling setup experience
Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy, and precision
Strength in CNC Tooling, CNC Programming, G-Code, M-Code
Expertise in CNC Machine Setup & Changeover and production-run setups
